Cares Mentor-Recruitment Circles

NCMM's central office in Atlanta, Georgia provides organizational direction, leadership, and technical support to communities that are developing Local CARES Circles. These are cities with high concentrations of at-risk African American youth.

NCMM's National Council consists of prominent organizations such as the 100 Black Men of America, the National Urban League, the LINKs, the YWCA and 12 others. The council provides resources and guidance to local partners in setting up Circles.

CARES Circles are the actual networks of mentors in each city. Nearly 40 local CARES Mentor-Recruitment Circle are throughout the nation. Circles are in formation in the following locations and more:

Local CARES Circle Activities:

  • Serve as a voice for mentoring in local communities
  • Lead on-the-ground mentor recruitment efforts
  • Form an on-going relationship and system of communication with vetted local mentoring organizations
  • Share best practices
  • Work with committed community leaders, including educators, to strengthen public education and turn underserved schools into top-tier, safe learning environments
  • Serve as a local point of contact for NCMM
